Marble runs
There’s something undeniably magical about marble runs. As you watch the marble twist and turn along its path, you can’t help but hold your breath in anticipation. Beyond the fun, marble runs offer a fantastic opportunity to introduce concepts like velocity and acceleration in a hands-on, engaging way.
There are dozens marble runs available in the market. We have tried a couple
- Overall pick - National Geographic Glow-in-the-Dark Marble Run (50 pieces), $24.99
It’s affordable, fun, and easily expandable with other National Geographic Marble Run sets. With options ranging from 80 pieces, 95 pieces to 250 pieces, there’s plenty to choose from. While the glow of the marbles isn’t very bright and fades quickly, it was still enough to wow the kids.
- Cuboro isn’t cheap—the most basic set starts at $164! (Don’t tell my husband.) But it’s worth it. Made from solid wood, each piece feels satisfying in your hands. Plus, there’s an entire universe of Cuboro extensions to explore. It’s a marble run that challenges you to think abstractly in 3D, making it as intellectually engaging as it is fun.
Marble runs I want to try:
- National Geographic Magnetic Marble Run, must be cool to assemble it on the fridge
Don't forget you can always tinker your own marble run
